Where can I have the best food in town?

You should definitely try the Tyrolean cuisine: Dumplings and schnitzel are part of it. Desserts like Kaiserschmarrn and Apfelstrudel are an essential part of the Tyrolean menu. But for those who prefer to eat internationally - Innsbruck offers a wide range of restaurants, there is something for every taste. You can find our recommendations and tips HERE.

Where can I buy typical Tyrolean specialities?

The largest selection of Tyrolean bacon, cheese and other delicacies is available at the Farmers' Market at the market hall. You can also get delicious Tyrolean bacon in the Speckeria in the Old Town and the best strudel in the Strudel Café Kröll.

For everyone who is looking for something special: Walde soap factory offers a wide range of handmade products from heavenly fragrant soaps to natural cosmetics. The milk for the “Tiroler Edle” – our favorite chocolate - comes exclusively from “Tiroler Grauvieh” (Tyrolean gray cattle), one of the oldest, rare cattle breeds of the High Alpine regions of Austria.

Top 5 Sights

in Innsbruck

Up to the mountains with Nordketten cablecars

The combination of city and nature in Innsbruck is unique. Starting from the city centre you can reach a high alpine area – the “Top of Innsbruck” - using 3 mountain cable cars. The view from the top to the city and the surrounding mountains is breathtaking and definitely “top”., Rennweg 3, 6020 Innsbruck

Enchanting Old Town and Golden Roof

Just cross the river Inn on the Inn Bridge and you will see it shine: the Golden Roof, the landmark of Innsbruck. Around the Golden Roof you will find many other attractions: the City Tower, the Imperial Palace, the Court Church and St. Jacob’s Cathedral. But what makes our historical Old Town really special, is its charming small alleys and squares with its lovely shops and restaurants, where you can also sit outside and enjoy the special atmosphere!

Bergisel ski jump

Many people know this place because of the jumping competition taking place every beginning of January. When you stand up there and look down, you will admire the ski jumpers for their courage even more than before! This place offers maybe one of the most beautiful panoramic views of the city. There is also a panoramic path round the Bergisel mountain., Bergiselweg 3, 6020 Innsbruck

Swarovski Crystal Worlds

The interior of Swarovski Crystal Worlds has been created by international artists. Every room is different and unique: sparkling, fascinating and sometimes a little crazy. The outside area around is composed by a wonderful garden with a lake, a mystical crystal cloud and a labyrinth. And all children will love the huge play tower! The Crystal Worlds are 20 km away from Innsbruck and easily reachable by shuttle bus several times a day., Kristallweltenstraße 1, 6112 Wattens

Alpine Zoo Innsbruck

The Alpine zoo is located on a hillside above Innsbruck with a beautiful view on the city. There you find about 2000 animals in a natural surrounding. All animals are species which have their habitat in the Alps: ibex, brown bear, lammergeier, lynx and wolf. There is also a big playground for children., Weiherburggasse 37a, 6020 Innsbruck

Ever slept under a starry sky?

You might have the opportunity today! A few of our rooms offer this special feature: a starry sky. The stars can only be seen when it's dark in the room. During the day the stars are invisible and at night they do not light up the room either, same as in nature. Let yourself be surprised!

Hotel Mondschein - charming and full of history

Have an attentive walk through our house and discover some special features from a bygone era. When entering the hotel, you can see two stone columns made of local breccia, a typical limestone which was knocked off in the mountains of Innsbruck. This type of stone can also be found very often in the historical Old Town of Innsbruck. A wooden wall has been preserved on the first floor and is studded over and over with wooden nails. History can be found everywhere here, no wonder, the house dates back to 1473.
